What is Moira exactly? We’re lead to believe she is some sort of Candyman-esqe type person who comes when she is beckoned. Here’s where things get a tad confusing, and a bit spoilery, so skip the following paragraph if you want. Besides the cast, the violence is high on the brutality scale both in the visual aspect and the twisted things Moira does to people. While not Oscar contenders, the cast is stronger than expected given the fact the two lead actors (Rubinstein and Phipps) have only been around for a handful of years. What makes Some Kind of Hate work is the acting. These types of storylines are chugged out year after year and only a few of them have balls and even fewer of them are actually worth watching. Luckily though, the movie is pretty decent. I’m not sure if the screenwriters knew exactly what the movie should be.
This is somewhat of a revenge flick, but with a little bit of a twist, and when the supernatural aspect is thrown into the mix, things get a bit more convoluted. The plot for Some Kind of Hate is somewhat misleading where the main character, Lincoln (Ronen Rubinstein), doesn’t actually want Moira (Sierra McCormick) to hurt the people that have hurt him. When a bullied kid lashes out against his bully, he’s sent to a reform camp where he unwillingly releases a violent girl, Moira, to do his bidding.
